I’m currently 33.5 weeks pregnant and we filmed this video yesterday.
I definitely need some work on my kettlebell snatch form, but wanted to show that snatches are possible (and awesome in my opinion) during late pregnancy. I actually have a lot more trouble doing 2-handed kettlebell swings than kettlebell snatches because my belly really gets in the way.
For my conditioning workout today I did the following:
- Arc Trainer: 10 min
- 2-handed kettlebell Swings with 16K kettlebell
(30 sec of swings, 30 sec of rest for 5 min – total of 95 swings) - 1-handed kettlebell Swings with 12K kettlebell
(30 sec of swings, 30 sec of rest for 6 min – total of 114 swings) - Kettlebell snatches
(15 sec of snatches, 15 sec of rest for 10 min – total of 120 kettlebell snatches) –> See 1 min video below. - Arc Trainer: 5 min
Hope you all had a great weekend.
Did you get your workout in? What did you do?

Wow Amanda! You are amazing! I wanted to start a kettlebell workout, however I’m not sure what weight to start at. I’ve been lifting my entire pregnancy, but just free weights between 5-10lbs for reps. I wanted to try some of your kettlebell workouts that you’ve done recently. Would you recommend starting with the weights that you used or going lighter? Thank you so much!

Hi Jessica! It’s so great that you’re committed to staying fit during your pregnancy and have continued to work out. ๐
Have you ever used Kettlebells before? I would recommend starting VERY slow and also learning from a certified instructor (RKC) at least until you are comfortable with the basics. I am not an RKC (yet), but my husband is an incredible instructor. You can check out our website and read testimonials from his clients at http://www.skillofstrength.com if you are interested. Keep in mind, I was very fit when I got pregnant and worked out with kettlebells for a few years before I even got pregnant so a lot of what I have on my blog is fairly advanced and not what I would recommend for someone just starting out. ๐

Holy moly- you’re a rockstar. I’m using you as my inspiration to keep up with the exercise!
Amanda Perry says
Awww thanks girl! Let me know if you have any questions…I’m happy to help! ๐ Exercise has truly made a world of difference during my pregnancy…I haven’t experienced a lot of the symptoms other women complain about and I really think that’s why. I would definitely encourage you to keep it up!

You are awesome! I love when women show that you can workout during pregnancy. And not only workout but do badass workouts at that! You rock!
Amanda Perry says
Thanks Tina! No one ever said it’s easy to workout during pregnancy but it is possible and so good for you! I always feel so much better after a good workout. I just want women to know they can still kick butt during pregnancy and get back at it after the baby is born (just like you have done!) ๐

I will definitely ask you a lot of questions if you don`t mind! It is great to have found a resource for mothers (to be) who workout! You can get a lot support on delivery/feeding/education/childcare matters but there isn`t something like a “community” for pregnant women/new moms who are passionate exercisers…I often felt a little lonely in my gym when I exercised with the baby belly, but from you blog and others I have found that there are a lot of “like minded”. That is good to know!
Amanda Perry says
It is definitely hard to find other mothers and moms-to-be who are passionate about staying fit during pregnancy. I’ll be rooting you on from the sidelines when you are pregnant next time! ๐

Thank you so much for posting your routines! That will definitely be a guideline for my next pregnancy! I could get a great workout at the weekend for my gym has the best daycare ever (with a climbing “hall” for toddlers) and my 22 months old loves to go there! If you might be scared by others about the oppurtunity to get workouts in after your little one is born – do not worry! You can do this as well and I am in the best shape I ever was after my kid was born! All the best!

Glad you’re enjoying the posts and workouts. I can’t wait for you to get pregnant again! Let me know if you need any ideas or help. ๐ Your gym sounds great…it must be awesome to know your child is receiving awesome care while you are getting fit!

Amanda – You’re a rockstar! I stumbled upon your blog last week and love it! Thanks for the inspiration to other pregnant women out there and to other women in general – strong is the new sexy! ๐

Glad you found me here Khara! I just checked out your blog and can’t wait to read more. When are you doing the RKC? I’m hoping to do it next summer! My husband just hosted an HKC this past weekend in Massachusetts. I wanted to take it, but wasn’t too sure it was the best idea at 33 weeks preggo. ๐
