So we got a package at the gym last week that contained a bunch of smiley face stress balls and several balance pads.
My husband immediately assumed that someone hacked our account while I decided it had to be someone playing a joke on us. Obviously, we have been stressed out with the gym expansion and as a result our lives haven’t exactly been balanced. (Yes, we are working on it and yes, we know it’s important.)
Needless to say, both of us were wrong about the package. The stress balls and balance pads are for a breathing seminar that we are hosting this coming weekend, but I still found it all pretty funny. Since then, I’ve really been thinking about how to achieve a bit more balance in my life. I love our gym and obviously love our {awesome} clients, but I do know that working every free second I have isn’t healthy. I have always been a bit of a workaholic, but now that I love what I do it’s even easier to work more and relax less.
Over the last few weeks I have been spending more focused time with my son and I’m trying to slow down and just relax once in awhile. I’m not good at it, but I’ll keep trying.
This week my goal is to do each of these things every day.
- Email and/or call a good friend.
- Do something nice for my husband.
- Relax for at least 30 minutes reading or watching TV. (This may not sound like much, but it’s an improvement for me.)
- Spend some completely undistracted time with CJ. No phones, TV, or food prep happening in the background. 🙂
Are you good at de-stressing and finding balance in your life or are you a workaholic too? Any tips on finding balance as a working mom?
