For this week’s flashback Friday I’m looking back at the past year instead of the past week because yesterday marks one year since I started up this lil ole blog!
My first post was about Viking Warrior Conditioning. I was using an 8K Kettlebell at the time. Pretty awesome that just a few months later I was snatching the 14K kettlebell instead of the 8K kettlebell when I completed this video for practice of the RKC snatch test (100 snatches in under 5 minutes). It’s so great for me to be able to look back and see where I was at physically and what I was doing for workouts a year ago.
Last summer I made some huge fitness gains and was in the best shape of my life. I have no doubt that being fit when I got pregnant has helped me get through these last 9 months with less pregnancy symptoms than a lot of women experience. Don’t get me wrong, I still had to endure some pregnancy setbacks and received plenty of comments about my pregnancy from other people, but overall I have been pretty lucky. Working out has been a huge source of stress relief for me and hopefully has counteracted some of the unhealthy foods I’ve eaten, especially when I couldn’t even look at vegetables.
Over the last few months, I’ve gotten really excited about blogging and I’ve started making some great connections with other bloggers as well as readers. I’m so happy to be communicating with awesome people I never would have met otherwise and I’m thrilled that I’ve been able to help readers with their workouts, nutrition habits and maybe even with some pregnancy advice.
Some other highlights over the past year:
- My father in law beat leukemia
- Skill of Strength became an LLC
- We found out we are having a baby
- I turned 30
- I passed my Precision Nutrition Certification
- I passed the Functional Movement Screen Certification
- We got to see our bundle of joy in 3D at 32 weeks
- We finished our private studio and started training people out of Tyngsboro, MA
- I was able to exercise during my entire pregnancy
- We celebrated our future son at an amazing baby shower
Although my posts have changed a bit from when I started and I have incorporated a bunch of pregnancy posts, I hope you’ve enjoyed the variety. Thank you for all of your amazing support and continued readership! I hope to continue to grow as a person and in turn grow my blog and my subject matter. I am of course planning to continue sharing fitness and nutrition information, workouts, videos and the occasional recipe. I’ll also be sharing my experience as a new mom and the challenges I’m sure I’ll face as a working mom trying to stay fit.
What would you like to see more of (or less of!) on my blog moving forward?

Congrats on one year! Isn’t it fun to be able to look back over the year through the blog?

It is so much fun! I don’t usually look back, but took the time to the other day and it was great. 🙂 Happy Mother’s Day Tina!
