Do you say thank you? It seems so obvious that something we learn so early and hear so often as children is also a habit that we should keep into adulthood. I’ve run into a few people lately who apparently didn’t get the memo. Bummer for them. I’ve found that when someone is thankless time and time again I lose all respect for them. On the flip side, when someone is truly thankful it rubs off on me. I want to do more for them and for others.
I had dinner this week with 3 of my closest girlfriends. Since we met up right after work we all did the usual and recapped how things are going at work for each of us. One of my friends works closely with brides and their mothers. I think it goes without saying that many brides and their mommas can get a little crazy before the big wedding day. My friend said that sometimes she gets frustrated with how nutty people get and how they worry about so much that really doesn’t matter in the big picture. (Remember this if you aren’t married yet when you are planning your wedding!)
She went on to say that she had received 2 phone calls from MOB’s (mothers of the brides) in the last few weeks thanking her for dealing with them and their craziness. She said that it changed her opinion of them and she felt good about the fact that they liked her work and appreciated her calmness. Just think – all the craziness was forgiven just because these moms took the time to call and say thank you.
Please thank those around you. Do not just move on and keep asking for the next thing. Trust me, the only thing that is going to accomplish is make someone feel underappreciated (and most likely less motivated to go out of their way for you next time.)
Let’s talk about your body. Have you thanked your body lately? Do you think your body might be feeling underappreciated? Fuel the poor thing with some healthy foods and get a workout in. Give that bum a break from your couch or chair…it’s tired of being sat on all day. I mean, really, how would you like it if someone was sitting on you all day? 🙂
Thank your body and see what it does for you. My guess is your body will thank you in return and be more motivated to help you out in the future. You never know…maybe your body is just waiting for you to ‘thank it’ and then it will scream YOU’RE WELCOME by giving you more energy and looking more fit.
Happy Friday!
