{Two Things Tuesday Vol. #7}
Usually I get these posts done by the time I go to bed on Monday. Yesterday that didn’t happen. It was tempting to just say F-it… I’ll get back to it next week because who really reads these little posts anyway, right?
However, I know myself. Next week could drag into the following week and before long my blog will be on another year long hiatus. 😉
Sound familiar? Is this you with exercise? Food prep? Eating well? Making time for your friends or to date your spouse?
It can be easy to get out of a groove. We can’t control every aspect of our lives and sometimes this means our schedules {and emotions} get crazy. During these hectic times you may have to force yourself to do the things you know will help you get to your goals simply because it’s the right thing to do and because consistency matters. A lot.
The best way to do anything is simply to start. I know…DUH. But, we all need to hear that sometimes. So, instead of blowing off my Two Things Tuesday post this week, I’m taking my own advice this morning.
Enjoy todays TWO THINGS TUESDAY with two ways to know if your exercise is working for you. Dont forget, if youve been reading or listening to something you think Id love and should share here, please let me know. I love podcasts, audio books and blog recommendations!
Is Your Exercise Working For You?
1. Is your exercise preventing fat loss?… and how to fix it.
I love that I found this post right after I wrote last week about running and how it might be keeping you from your goals…or maybe not. Jen’s spot on in here with some ways to know if your exercise is keeping you from your fat loss goals. She’s right when that it’s important to find your training sweet spot. As coaches, it’s also up to us to help our clients discover this too. Too much is not good. Too little is not good either. Experiment to see what feels best for you.
2. Is your exercise adding to your life or making you miserable?
This is an important question to ask yourself when you’re ready to take an honest look at whether what you are doing for exercise is “working for you.”
If getting specific physique or performance results is important to you, you’ll want to use the scale, pictures, measurements, rate how you feel day-day-day, track performance metrics…etc.
However, something else to consider as you evaluate your current exercise plan is whether it’s adding to your life or of taking away from your life. Simply put, is your exercise making you better… and happier? Or does it feel like a total chore every time you’ve got a workout planned for the day?
If you’re getting the physical results you want, but you’re miserable because to achieve these results you have to spend way too much time in the gym, what you’re doing for exercise isn’t actually fun or you’re starving all the time, what you’re doing might NOT actually be “working for you.” If you’re miserable, you haven’t found the the sweet spot.
Look at what you’re doing and ask yourself today…how is this current plan working for me? Is it sustainable? Do you feel good? Are you happy?
