I’ve been a little MIA this week for all good reasons. Work’s been busy and we’ve got a lot going on in the Skill of Strength world.
Connor hasnt’ been sleeping well this week and I decided to snuggle him this morning instead of training at home. I squeezed in a quick session at the small gym in my office at lunch. I rarely do this, but just wanted to move/sweat a little today.
I
did a decent warm up and then did the following:
- Run 2 min
- Chest press 8R/8L
- Single arm dumbell rows 6R/6L
- 5 Pushups
- …repeat x4 (varied run speeds, 7mph, 8mph, 9mph x2)
- Side plank L/R
- Mountain climbers
- T pushups
- …repeat x3
- Run 1 min at 9mph and walk 4 min to cool down
It wasn’t a tough workout (for me) and it wasn’t long, but I was sweating, it woke me up and I burned a few calories as a nice side effect. A guy in the gym said to me, “Done already?” as if I was a sissy. There were so many things I kind of wanted to say, but I bit my tongue. Instead I just said “I like to work hard and get out” and continued watching all the men at the gym jog, use the elliptical and attempt a few pull ups. Note: it’s cheating on pullups if you don’t go all the way down. Just saying.
Happy weekend! I’ll be posting my 6 month banish the baby bulge update next week.

Amanda, I often see guys at my gym doing partial pull ups and I just bite my tongue. I think that at around 12 weeks pregnant, I started to lose one chinup per week, so now at 21 weeks, I am down to about 2 chinups, butnI actually find that slow negatives have been an awesome substitute, and while I now work out at home, I just know some know-it-all dude at the gym would suggest I just go do 10 assisted chins on the machine. Sigh. If I haven’t mentioned it before, I love your blog and wholeheartedly agree with/support so much of what you post here!

Look at you mama! That is awesome that you’re still doing chinups! I stopped doing them probably around halfway through my pregnancy (maybe even a little before) because they felt weird to me, but I think I’ll try to keep it up a bit more next time. Slow negatives are AWESOME by the way. 🙂
