Mike and I went to my parents house yesterday after church to watch the Pat’s game (blech…what a yucky game) and then we had a pre-Thanksgiving dinner. ๐ My mom made roasted chicken and lots of veggies, mashed potatoes and stuffing. It was great!
We got to talking at dinner about how people like different activities/workouts. My mom participates in a running group…they run in a parking lot on Tuesday nights (summer and winter, regardless of the weather) with a group of people and a coach. She likes it, but the rest of us think it sounds miserable!
My dad was so pumped about the fact that it will be lighter in the mornings again that he said he wanted to ride his bike to work a few more times (8 miles). Then he was thinking how it would be dark by the time he wanted to come home so maybe he’d ride home at lunch and drive back. Again, the other 3 of us think that sounds awful.
I get up early and workout before work and my husband played soccer at 10pm the other night. Believe it or not, we were each the only taker on our activities as well. ๐
SO…as obvious as this may seem… it got me thinking…I can tell you everything that I do to stay fit and active, but it is truly important that you find activities you like so that you’ll stick with them!
What’s your favorite workout or time of day to workout? Do you like solo activities or group activities?

Jazzercise!! Or any other type of dance class!

Dancing is a great way to get a workout in and it usually doesn’t even feel like a workout because those who do it generally love it!

Mandi-
I couldn’t agree more with this — I think you’re dead on. I am a class girl and need to have variety in my workouts, but I know people that go to the gym, get on a machine and do that 5x a week. I need a class to lift or a buddy – makes it much more interesting. I feel best when I work out in the morning, like lunch time, but HATE after work — great post!!

You are like a lot of people who want the group dynamic! ๐ I’m with you…I can’t stand working out after work. I have no energy left at that point. I do think variety is key for everyone, whether it’s switching up your workouts, your location or your workout class!
