If you’ve been reading for awhile you probably know that red wine is my weakness. I used to be such a sweets fanatic, but since eliminating most processed foods from my diet my sugar cravings are pretty minimal these days. That said, I don’t see myself doing away with wine or adult beverages in general any time soon (like ever…except when/if I’m pregnant again).
I tend to stick with red wine as my beverage of choice (besides water of course) even in the summer, but on the hottest days sometimes it just doesn’t cut it, even for me. It’s also not very boat friendly so I often go with beer when I’m out on the boat or at a cookout in the heat. I went through a phase where I really liked Michelob ULTRA Pomegrante on hot days, but I have been trying to stay away from most gluten (which I will be posting more about in the future).
Enter: Michelob ULTRA Light Cider. It’s a new, less sweet lower calorie alternative to traditional ciders (and it’s the first cider Anheuser-Busch has produced and distributed in the U.S).
When we were in New Hampshire over Memorial Day weekend my mom and I enjoyed a few of these ciders.
We both thought it tasted crisp and light, actually a lot like champagne. It was definitely refreshing since it was so hot out. I love the fact that it is naturally sweetened, made from hand-picked apples and is gluten free! I didn’t experience any of that bloating some of you are probably familiar with when you drink beer.
I’m definitely still going to stick with my red wine (always and forever) as my drink of choice, but this is an awesome alternative to the beer and white wine that I drink when the temperature heats up. Plus, I love that it’s boat-friendly.
It is less sweet than other ciders I have had in the past although I haven’t had much cider since around the time “…she drinks a cider drink” Chumbawumba was a hit song . Wow, that was a long time ago!
I wouldn’t sit and suck down 4 or 5 of these sucks (who am I kidding…I can’t suck down 4 or 5 of anything these days), but I really enjoyed having one at a time. Plus, with only 120 calories it didn’t make me feel like I just slurped down all of the calories I burnt during my track workout either.
If you want try some for yourself, Michelob ULTRA Light Cider is available nationwide (excluding CO, UT, WY and OK) in six-packs of 12-ounce
bottles. I’ll definitely be picking up another six pack of these guys at some point this summer.
What type of summer activity do you think would go best with Michelob ULTRA Light Cider?
