Sorry I have been slacking a bit on my posts lately. I’m actually moving my blog from blogger to wordpress so more on that coming up in the near future, but once it’s done I’ll have more time for actually posting again. 🙂
Just Google lose weight and you’ll see mass amounts of products out there claiming to help you lose 8-10 pounds in the next few weeks. I tell you what…even if by some chance any of these products work to help you shed some pounds, they are not going to help you truly become healthy in the long run. Shake weights and sneakers that ‘tone your butt’ are all just ways to get you to think you can lose weight and increase your muscle tone, while continuing to be the lazy.
Any diet (Atkins, South Beach, Low Fat, etc.) will work short-term and may even give you results fairly quickly. These diets all work because you end up restricting calories one way or another. However, these are all ‘diets’ and not lifestyle changes. In order to make a permanent change, you must do something that you can maintain forever. Think about eating well MOST of the time and listening to your body.
Today I worked out and had a post workout protein shake and then a Larabar a little while later. Still hungry after church, I had a bagel with peanut butter. We went to our nieces birthday party all day and after a pretty carb heavy day my body was screaming for some veggies and protein. I came home and made a veggie burger and a nice big salad for dinner by tossing together a hefty portion of the following:
- lettuce
- carrots
- edamame
- corn
- avocado
- cilantro
- olive oil
- lemon juice
- pepper
a few meals, days, weeks, etc. your body will start to crave what you need. I knew I needed some veggies tonight and my body feels much better now!
[…] pregnant I would avoid any sickness during pregnancy. I thought (and hoped) that since I normally crave vegetables and healthy meals I would continue to do so. Unfortunately, that was not the case. More on this […]
