My husband and I just got back yesterday from 10 blissful days in New Hampshire. The time off was just what we needed to feel refreshed and ready to hit the ground running for fall.
Between starting a new job and working on Skill of Strength life is busy, great and exciting. We have tons of fun things planned and lots of goals that we are working towards. Stay tuned as we reveal new offerings, challenges, workout ideas and nutrition information.
One goal, and I think it’s important to mention because I don’t think that it’s an easy one to pull off, is that we’re trying to take things one day at a time instead of getting stressed out or focused on the future. What if (just like we did on vacation) you could wake up and ask yourself, what do I need to do today to make the best choices and do the right thing? Think about this as it applies to your job, your relationships, your workouts, your food choices and your sleep habits.
Some highlights of our vacation…
- Hiked (ran) up Mt. Major in 33 minutes
- Went mountain biking (there was no man vs. mountain this time!)
- Worked out at a nearby track a few times
- Went to lunch and dinner at several different spots
- Went to the movies twice
- Slept (a lot)
- Saw Sugarland with friends (AWESOME concert)
- Went boating
- Binged on celebrity gossip magazines and started a book
- Played Cornhole and Polish Horseshoes
- Redid my parents bathroom at their condo as a surprise
We made a few fun videos to share and I will do that later in the week!
I used to really struggle with coming home from vacations and adjusting back to work and waking up early. Lately, I’m trying to be more thankful that I had the opportunity to enjoy being away from the everyday stresses of life and spend extra time with my amazing husband and our family and friends. It’s all about the glass being half full here people. 🙂
Although it was nice to be creative and workout outside of our house and the gym, I do like getting back into a routine with my eating habits and working out. I always try to get up and get a great workout in on the first day back to reality. It helps get me in the right mindset.
What makes the transition back to the real world easier for you when you get home from an awesome vacation? Are you usually refreshed and thankful for the opportunity you had to get away or do you tend to feel stressed and sad that it’s over?
