Okay…in my last post I was all about telling you what you should not do at the gym. Now…time for a list of things you should be doing. More to come, but as a follow up to the last post here are 7 things you certainly should do at the gym.
Did you miss the last post? If yes, read 7 things that you should NOT do at the gym.
- Warm up. If you’re not sure if you’re doing a good warm up, you probably are not. Check out the 20-20 warm up designed by Mike Perry. It’s really great. Since it’s a long video (showing you all of the movements) it’s in 3 parts.

- Listen to music. I think music works wonders at the gym. Everyone has their own opinions on what type of music they like, but whatever gets you going…put it on.
- Pushups. If you can’t do pushups yet there are plenty of ways to modify this exercise. Put your hands on an incline (toes on the ground). Practice makes perfect…soon you’ll be able to bang out pushups like it’s no big deal.
- Squats and lunges. We’ll discuss form and details on another post. This deserves some specific attention, but these are 2 really phenomenal exercises. And no, the leg press does not count as squatting.
- Planks. Everyone thinks they are doing planks right, but to really get the best workout your entire body needs to be tense. Squeeze those glutes and keep those hips up (do not let them sag).
- Intervals. Love that treadmill? Try this workout I posted recently. Spend ten minutes on a treadmill doing this workout instead of trotting along at a slow pace and you’ll burn way more calories and become faster over time.
- Smile and be thankful. You are blessed with a strong and beautiful body. Be proud of what you can do and continue to set goals to be even better.
Have a great day and if you don’t at least have a great workout. 🙂
